Final Project

For my business I wanted to have my theme be the Irish flag. I wanted to incorporate the flag in each part of my different projects. For the business card I wanted it to be something simple because it is a professional restaurant. I put the logo and then just a four leaf clover on the other side with my information. For the letterhead I wanted something professional looking, but also I wanted to add something cute. I decided to put the four leaf clovers so separate the different contact information. The last thing I made was my brochure. I stayed consistent with the Irish flag for the background, while incorporating text and pictures for the customers to read. I am very pleased with the final project and think it would make a great company.

Corporate Identity

1)   What is your business?
We are an Irish restaurant.
2)   Describe your business in one sentence
We are an authentic homemade Irish serving restaurant.

3)   Who is your target audience?
Our target audience would be families, teenagers, and Irish families.

4)   Who are your competitors?
MacDintons and Patricks Pub

5)   What makes them better/worse than your product/service?
MacDintons is a very popular restaurant/ bar for the younger crowd. They are able to attract young adults with there dollar drinks and happy hour. It is not a very kid friendly place especially for families going out to eat together. Patricks Pub is just like any other restaurant and does not have anything that really puts them apart from the rest.

6)   Do you currently have an identity?  (This is more for companies that are already established and you’re just revamping the logo/corporate identity.  If you have a new company or product, skip this question.)
No.

7)   (If your answer to #6 is no, skip this question)  What do you like about it and what don’t you like about it?
Skip.

1)   How do you want your image to be seen in two years?
We want this company to be seen as a homey, warm, family environment for anyone to come and enjoy some delicious home cooked food.

2)   If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?
If my company was an animal it would be a pig because our food is filling and will leave you feeling very full.

3)   If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?
Ex: Apolo Ohno, because he is a famous, record-breaking Olympic speed skater who’s also young, fun and trend setting.

4)   If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?
It would be a fork and knife because we are restaurant.

5)   If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
It would be the little Irish guy on the lucky charms box because he represents Irish people and we are an Irish restaurant.

Lyrical Collage

For my lyrical collage I decided to pick a country song Stay by Florida Georgia Line because I love country music. I decided to first pick a couple sitting on a bench because it gave the old country feel. I then found the film stripes and figured that went well because it is showing the memories that they shared together. It is symbolic to the song from all the memories that they have had together. For the background I chose to pick clouds to give it a foggy feeling in the image. I thought this project was a lot of fun and I really enjoy how my project turned out!

Custom Graphic

For my custom graphic I wanted to do something more abstract and eye catching. I took a picture that I had taken and imported it as my back ground. I took the opacity down and put a black background behind the graphic. I then looked up abstract brushes from online and found one that I liked. I wanted to use different colors to make the image pop, as well as using different sizes and designs of the brush. I am very pleased with my picture I think my graphic turned out really well!

Self Insertion

For this self insertion piece I decided to pick a street in Paris because I have always wanted to visit there. I tried to find a picture that was at night because the picture that I took with my mom was at night and I wanted the lighting to be correct. I think it turned out pretty good, I enjoyed this project.

Beyonce Vector Illustration

For me this project was very difficult. I could not seem to get the concept down for this project what so ever. The ears were nearly impossible to do, every time I went to do them they turned out weird looking so I decided to take them out. The shading I found to be difficult because it all just kind of looked like a grey blob. I honestly tried very hard with this project, this was just not my favorite project we have had.

Exquisite Corpse

This is my creation of Joshua. I decided I wanted him to be flying because of his wings, but also I wanted to take a funny approach to this project as well. I had a difficult time with this project just because the pen tool and I are not friends. Overall, I think it looks pretty good.

Final Logo

For my final logo I wanted to do something simple, but recognizable for customers. My fictional company is going to be an Irish Pub named after my grandparents. I chose to do green and orange as my colors for an authentic Irish Pub. I decided to go with a clover as my main logo because it is simple and it can stand by itself. I think the logo all together flows nicely, but is also simple. For the font I looked up Irish fonts and tried to pick one that looks the most Irish out of all of them. The pictures below are a few of the items I used when getting ideas for my logo.

RE-Post

I figured out the right way to post it, so I just reposted my caligramme project.

Sun Caligramme

Today was a beautiful day at the beach and the sun was shining so bright that it inspired me for my caligramme project. I am not sure why the background shows up grey because on my computer it looks white. I wanted to come up with a more creative sun, rather than just a regular sun. I used various words and quotes to create the sun outline and the spirals going off of the sun.

Logo Critique

1. McDonalds

This logo's target audience would be for all ages, anyone who enjoys fast food. I think this logo is successful at grabbing the target audience because it is a nationally known logo. Whenever you are driving in the car looking for McDonalds all you have to do is look for the golden arches. Yellow and red are a good combination to catch customers attention because they are bright and stand out.

2. Nike

This logo's target audience would be athletes or anyone who enjoys sports/working out. I think this logo is very simple, but it is so easily recognized by everyone around the world. I think the color black works because it is universal for both male and female. I think this logo works because it can be put on pretty much anything, due to it being simple.

3. Twitter

This is a logo for twitter and its main target audience would be teens/ young adults/ social networkers. I think this logo is successful because it is kind of a play on words with the word tweet/twitter. The logo is a picture of a bird and when you post something on twitter it is called a tweet, which I think is a cute idea. I think the color blue goes with the logo because everything on Twitter is blue, which attracts a customer.

4. Chili's

The target audience for this logo would be teens, young adults, and people up to their 40s. This logo is successful because anyone can tell that this company's name is Chili's because it has a red chili as their logo. The green and red work well together because they contrast one another, especially the stem being green off the red chili.

5. Noodles

Old logo

New logo

I think when noodles went to redo their logo they wanted to go with a more direct approach and put noodles in their logo. I think the new logo is more successful because now people have a better understanding that it is a food place. The font looks better now because it is more playful like noodles are, rather than upper case letters. The color red works well because when people see the color red they are more attracted and would make them more likely to go eat there.

3. O’Hagan- This would be an Irish restaurant named after my grandparents.

4. Couture- This would be a high end jewelry line, for A-list celebrities.

5. Four Eyes- This would be a glasses company for all ages.

Project 1

When I first thought about what I wanted to do, I had no idea. I decided to go for an abstract image because it can really be anything you want it to be. I had a hard time getting the hang of HTML with all the different codes and numbers, but this image came out better than I expected. I think my piece is successful because I used a lot of different shapes and colors, I am very pleased with the way it turned out!

Get to know me!

Hey Everyone!
My name is Katie Cruse and I am from Chicago. I am very outgoing and love meeting new people. I am a transfer sophomore from University of Missouri Kansas City, where I played D1 softball. I have played softball my whole life, but ended up injuring my back. I love the warm weather, so I figured it was only best to come to Florida! I am majoring in Advertising and Public Relations. I love working with people and hearing other people's ideas. I was really interested in taking this class because I am pretty good with computers and I like to express myself. The thing that I think I will gain the most out of this class would be familiarizing myself with all the different computer programs again and getting to learn new ones.

Well, that is just a little bit about me, can not wait to see what this semester has to offer!
